Australian professional surfer Mikey Wright told the BBC how he rescued a woman from 'sharp rocks and waves' on a beach in Hawaii. Both Mikey Wright and the women only suffered minor scratches.

It is a split second decision to commit to jumping in for a rescue like that. Cheers to him for doing so. 20 years ago I went out in a riptide and was able to coach a mom and her son back to shore. Unfortunately I heard the last words in from another man who didn't make it back and drowned. It haunts me still. Life is precious.

I was born in Hawaii Honolulu, I've lived in England for most of my life. I went to Honolulu for my 18th birthday and I can tell you dear readers, with absolute certaintity, be careful of those waves. I got hit by one and ended up halfway up the beach, minus my swimming trunks. It was embarressing for all involved.
